Bohemite poppy jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of very unusual poppy jasper, recently being called 'fawn jasper' or 'tidgilite'. The dealer who had the rough couldn't say for sure where it was found, and didn't know its name, but it was so amazing I eventually got all he had. Another fellow, who has similar Arizona material, claims its name is boehmite or bohemite, but since I can't be certain it is the same, I'll just continue offering it as a mystery poppy jasper. As
you can see, it has a wildly exotic pattern, very upbeat and festive, to say the least, and certainly has some unusual colors too. There's burnt orange, creamy ivory, as well as a couple shades of oddly muted slate blues. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a very slick glossy shine both front and back.
