Bloodstone cab ~
Here is a cabochon of bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, from India. This classic material remains a favorite, treasured by many for its contrasting blood red spots, which are said to be symbolic of the blood of Christ. This example has a dual pattern that's composed of larger patches of deep blood red on deep rich greens, as well as a scattering of teensy red flecks against a background of green with white polka dots. Oddly, it has a razor thin streak of white agate, mentioned only because I'd like you to be aware that it is NOT a fracture or flaw. My personal preferences for bloodstones like this is a silver setting, but please feel free to follow your own capable imagination. -smile- The stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a sleek designer shape, and a great glassy finish both front and back.
