Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is an artful cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. It features an outstanding full on pattern of eggs, one in front of the other, in pastel shades of creamy orange chiffon, against a body of deep brownish orange that includes a dab of burnt olive. There's just a touch of translucency present too, typical of the best of this fine porcelain jasper. Bruneau jasper takes a terrific polish, and when it's nicely patterned like this cab is, it is much sought after by collectors and designers alike. Sadly, next to nothing is being dug down there in the canyon's depths, so this awesome porcelain jasper's become alarmingly scarce and spendy now. This example has no cracks; any odd lines are well healed and completely stable. There is a tiny fleck of host matrix low on one side, which should be concealed by most any setting. The stone has a rounded dome of nearly 6mm, a fancy designer shape, perfectly polished both front and back.
