Tiger iron cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of tigeriron, from Australia. At Quartzite a few years ago, I was able to hand select the rough for this stone from a table full of the very best tigeriron I've ever seen. Only one of the pieces had this odd muted orange, so I brought it home. This stone has several areas of chatoyant golden tigereye, and in case you can't tell by the photos, the pinkish orange streak down the center shows a velvety chatoyance too. Thin shiny bands of darkly metallic hematite form lacy webs around the patches of chatoyant tigereye, all more intricate when seen in person. The cab has a sweet designer shape, a high rounded dome of nearly 6mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
