Description
~ Coyamito agate cab ~

Offered here is a unique cabochon of Coyamito agate, which originated in Mexico, only a handful of miles from the Laguna agate beds. This classic sought-after material is a huge favorite of countless agate afficionados, becoming ever more difficult to come by these days. This translucent stone holds a variety of wild patterns, including fine fortification banding, lacy scallops, and ornate flowery tubes in warm shades of peachy reddish orange, bright yellow, purple, crimson and more. The areas around the bullseyes are so full of parallax, they seem chatoyant, much like the satin ribbon effect sometimes seen in chatoyant malachite. Couldn't be captured in the photos, sorry. I do need to mention the presence of a couple healed hairlines, as well as a few tiny voids, mostly on the backside, though I doubt you'll find that overly distracting in a prize like this. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a smooth designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 46x23mm
Weight: approximately 52 carats
