Blue quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Brazilian blue quartz. I saw this darkly colored material a few years ago at the Quartzite shows, and knew we had to drag some home to my lapidary studio. The rough is certainly a pleasure to work with, much easier and finer than I imagined it would be. And I love the deep, rich color, which is 100% natural, not the result of any treatments or dyes. The stone has a neat semi-translucent quality, with a scattering of tiny sparkles here and there. It looks terrific in the silver pendants Rain and I created, but the contrast in gold would probably look even nicer. This cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a graceful designer teardrop shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
