Crinoid marble ~
Offered here is an intriguing trio of crinoid marble cabochons, cut from ancient material from China. These stones are a colorfully crazy patchwork of figures in wine-red, pink, cream, gray and black. The truly unique pattern is composed of the stems of fossilized plants called crinoids, which collected on the sea floor and were compressed into solid marble over millenia. Amazing stuff! No marble or fossil collection is complete without some crinoid marble, and these cabs would be fascinating centerpieces in any type of jewelry creation you can imagine. Each cab has a high rounded dome, 7mm and 3.5mm respectively, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
