Fantasy Jasper cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of fantasy jasper (very well named, I think). This exciting material bears some resemblance to the old time butterfly wing once found in proximity, but fantasy jasper is a relatively new find. It hails from the Sierra Madres mountains in Mexico, on the Rancho Colorado claim, and it certainly has colorfully striking patterns. This stone is a fine example, showing bold oranges and reds, orbicular patterns, and contrasting blue areas, some of which resemble woodgrain. Amazing! The cab has a very high rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a super slick glassy polish both front and back.
