Lake Superior agate cab ~
Offered here is a HUGE and extra fancy cabochon of Minnesota's State Gem, Lake Superior agate. This highly collectible agate sure cuts an exciting stone! Before you is an utterly unique example, showing the wonderful tubes and bullseyes that few prize Lakers have, in bright, bold shades of orange, rust and pastel apricot. I particularly like the scalloped edge of the solid orange running diagonal through the stone, and how the mossy figures appear to sprout from it. The bullseyes are actually cross sections of tubes, afloat in a mixture of 'crushed ice' quartz and agate that's highly translucent. Believe it or not, in person, it's even prettier! Exceptional rough for cabs like this doesn't often come my way, and it can be tough to work up the courage to slice them, so if you love Lakers, grab this beauty! The stone has a generously high and well rounded dome of 8.5mm, a designer shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back. Those in the know will recognize that my price per carat is a steal!
