Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for making sure I had some to enjoy!
Please take a good look at the details in this stone and you'll see why I'm so excited about this world class agate. It's a real KNOCKOUT, with an amazing array of patterns including pink, peach and blue-gray fortification bands, scallops, orbs and bullseyes, a crimson moss and sparkling 'crushed ice' crystal. Wonderful contrast too. Fine threads of dark maroon agate are (very well) healed fractures, and seem to be an intrinsic part of many Wave Hill agates. The uniqueness of each of these agate makes them a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt they'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
