Description
~ Opalite cab ~

Offered here is an impressive cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah. Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly gorgeous stuff! I'm told this rare opal gets its beautiful coloration from fluorite. I favor those like this one best, cut from the very heart of a choice nodule, with a brecciated 'black lightning' sort of pattern and the pretty purple, lavender and ivory hues. There's a river of blue agate pools edged with jet black that's particularly intriguing, as well as some translucence in the central purple areas, adding oodles of unique character. This super deluxe beauty will contrast nicely with either gold or silver, for an heirloom quality piece of wearable art. It has a high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a crisply bold designer shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back. There are a couple tiny crystal pockets on the backside, just in case you need to know.

Size: 43x28mm
Weight: approximately 44 carats
