Description
~ Silver in cobaltite cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of native silver in cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely don't see everyday, one that's very difficult to find and expensive when you do. It has a high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being surprisingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is completely smooth. Very reflective and brilliant, almost like chrome! The silver just seems to blossom into the white areas, like flower heads perhaps, alive and growing. Most of those 'flowers' have a tiny dendrite-like center, which I tried my best to illustrate in the photos. I think it's much more beautiful in hand. Surely you'll find a special use for such a unique cab. It has a very high rounded dome of 6mm, a gracefully elegant designer shape, and a slick reflective polish both front and back. A steal at well under $2 per carat!

Size: 55x21mm
Weight: approximately 75 carats
