Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is a very special cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Catamarca, Argentina. Not easy to come by like it once was, last I heard, the price of rough from this classic location is strictly controlled by the Argentinian goverment. This extraordinary cab features attractive shades of vibrant rose-pink coloration with an ornate, lacy banded pattern. The bands flow around and frame eyes, and at their centers are flecks of shiny silver, containing at least some precious native silver content. There are no pits or other flaws on the stone's face, and only two teensy voids on the backside, which also has shiny mirror-like metallics. The stone has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, and an excellent polish both front and back.
